Magic Place Technology
Magic Place uses established technology and is straightforward to install.
We have designed the show to be modular, allowing it to be tailored to suit your space. Multiple projections can be placed side-by-side around a room, creating an exciting, immersive play space. With so many possible combinations, the screens always look different, and the audience can happily move from one to another.
We can place additional sound, colour or movement interactives among the Magic Place screens to create further variety.
Requirements
The area should be equipped with sufficient electrical outlets and a reliable WiFi connection.
Each Magic Place module uses one computer, one projector and one sensor. We will provide the computers and sensors with pre-installed software and a housing unit. We can also provide projectors and speakers or we can work with your projection setup.
We recommend a minimum floor space of about 80 sqm but it can be much bigger. The space needs to be dark, preferably without windows and with blank walls to project onto. The projectors can be wall or ceiling-mounted.
Production
We’ll work with you to find the best solution for your space. Our experienced producers have over a decade in the field and are ready to advise and collaborate with you every step of the way. For example, we can use a truss system to position projectors mid-space or design custom furniture to safely house your equipment.
We always recommend including seating to allow the adults to take a breather while the kids enjoy themselves.
Installation & Maintenance
We’re happy to install the shows in collaboration with your technical team. A typical install takes one week. If you want to install the show yourself we can provide detailed instructions and guide you through balancing the software for your space.
Magic Place will turn itself on and off automatically. Isn't technology wonderful! We use RemotePC on all computers to make troubleshooting and adjustments quick and easy. The programmes are also maintained remotely, meaning any issues can be resolved within minutes, not days. Your staff need very little tech knowledge to run these shows.
Creative Coding
All the content of Magic Place is programmed by Genetic Moo using the computer language called Processing. This is free and open source and readily available online. We can provide handouts to encourage the next generation to get into coding.
